This regulation governs the carbon levy on all fuels that emit greenhouse gases in Alberta. Certain fuels, such as gas and diesel used on farms, are exempt from the levy.
The purpose of this bylaw is to regulate the collection and disposal of waste by the City. It prohibits the collection of toxic or household hazardous waste (solvents, paints, batteries, pesticides, herbicides) and hypodermic needles or syringes, in addition to other items.
This policy designates that residual funds received from any sale of a surplus school site will be disbursed to: retire outstanding debts; acquire required neighbourhood school land and/or park land including environmentally sensitive natural areas; develop parks to the Parks and Recreation Department minimum level of service; and develop parks to shared level of service, based on assessed program needs.
One of the purposes of this bylaw is to regulate the release of matter to the City of Edmonton’s sewerage system and watercourses. Restricted substances include: arsenic, benzene, cadmium, carbon tetrachloride, tetrachloroethylene, trichloroethylene, chloroform, chromium, ethylbenzene, lead, and nickel. It also restricts radioactive material.
