The Canadian Cancer Research Alliance (CCRA) came together at the same time as the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control. The 24-member organization
brings together most of the major national funders of cancer research in Canada. This group has become the Research Advisory Group for the Partnership.
The group identifies opportunities for the Partnership to enable projects that are beyond the scope of individual members. Two large scale initiatives have been selected. The Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow Project is a long-term population study. The second project is a translational research initiative in partnership with the Terry Fox Research Institute. Translational research focuses on moving laboratory discoveries into practice.
In addition, the CCRA
publishes a major annual survey of cancer research being conducted across Canada.
Cancer control knowledge and expertise are widely dispersed throughout Canada’s health-care system. These are our Advisory Groups.
Members of the Research Advisory Group of the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer come from the Canadian Cancer Research Alliance (CCRA) and patient and family organizations.
