CLASP Phase 1 report

The Partnership, together with the Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, hosted three consultation workshops across Canada in February and March 2009. The meetings were designed to engage academic researchers, public health and clinical practitioners, and health-policy leaders in efforts to integrate research, practice and policy in cancer and chronic disease prevention strategies.

The Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada are partners in the first phase of program development. Central to the consultative process is the identification of collaborative opportunities as we move forward.

Workshops were successful in informing a new Partnership funding agreement initiative entitled Coalitions Linking Action & Science for Prevention (CLASP). The report from the workshops provides a detailed description of the CLASP Phase 1 consultation process, including an outcome summary from each workshop and an overview of the greatest opportunities for collaborative action as identified by participants.
