External Guidance
The Partnership relies on input and advice from many individuals and organizations to make sure our work together builds on what is already happening across the country, addresses new breakthroughs and emerging issues, and above all, will make a meaningful difference to Canadians affected by cancer.
For the first two years of the Partnership’s initial mandate (2007-2012), an Advisory Council on Cancer Control acted a resource for the board, the executive and the Chairs of the Action Groups. Presently, the Partnership receives input and perspectives from across Canada’s cancer community, including provincial cancer agencies and ministries of health, federal agencies, patient groups and national organizations in a range of ways.
Various working groups, advisory groups and steering committees provide input to specific initiatives that are part of the Partnership’s mandate. They are chaired by an expert and recognized leader in their respective fields. Examples of these groups include the Cancer Risk Management Platform Advisory Committee, National Colorectal Cancer Screening Network, Quality Programs for Cancer Control Advisory Committee, the National Cancer Staging Advisory Committee and the Advisory Committee on First Nations, Inuit and Métis Cancer Control.
The Partnership is presently reviewing its advisory mechanisms as it moves into its next mandate for 2012-17. More information will be posted as it is available.
