Sally Thorne, PhD
Sally Thorne is a professor at the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia. She teaches graduate courses in the philosophy of science.
Dr. Thorne has a longstanding interest in the refinement of qualitative research methods so that knowledge drawn from people’s experiences can be effectively applied within an evidence-based health-care practice context. Her research and writing have primarily focused attention on chronic illness and the cancer experience.
A former Chair of the BC Cancer Agency, she is actively engaged in various community-based and strategic initiatives related to cancer care, chronic illness advocacy and global health issues.
Dr. Thorne lives in Vancouver.
